Anybody been up on the north arm recently? If so, how did it go?

We’ll be up there in 1.5 weeks. We’ve been going to LaBelle’s since 1976, but it’s been 30yrs since we did an August vacation. I’m sure the fish will be on the reefs/rocks when we get there with some along the weeds.

My folks and brother’s family were up the week of July 10 and nearly all their fish came along the weed edge. They battled the weather the first few days, but fishing was real good when they were able to get out.

Always fun to hear how others are doing. Can’t wait to get up there! My last time there was 2017. doah

Got back yesterday from our trip to LaBelle’s in NW Bay. Great trip as always! The weather was a bit goofy with little to no wind and if there was a wind it was from the east. Few days of storms otherwise relatively high skies.

Pike during the morning were cruising the weed edges adjacent to deep water. During the day many were over the rocks from 6ft to 20ft+. Nothing too huge. My nephew got his PB at 34″ and I lost an absolute tanker.

Smallies we got were over the rocks in 4ft to 20ft. Most were in the 2lb – 4lb range and came on jig/crawler, crawler harnesses, snap raps and topwater poppers.

Walleyes were found in all sorts of depths from 5ft rocks, 9ft weedlines, 15-25ft reefs and 20-25ft sand flats. Plenty in the 18″ to 24″ range and plenty of keepers from 15″ to 17.5″. Harnesses, jig/crawler, and snap raps caught most of the fish.

I wasn’t able to go exploring like I had hoped either due to weather or family things. But I was able to add some new spots to the list and delete others. LOL. Water surface temps in the mornings were 73 to 75 and afternoons was pushing 80.

Great trip, great hosts and great memories! Can’t wait to do it again!

Fall trip September 27th through October 2nd. Staying on Grindstone near T-bird. Got the long undies ready for those morning rides.

If anyone is fishing NW Bay and/or MN east of Brule, would appreciate any reports on fish moving to reefs and maybe water temps/transition to minnows vs. Leech/Crawler.

Minnows in 30’ish feet of water. Fish are biting.

But it’s the 13th, long time until the 27th. We could have snow by then.

Lows next week overnight is 40’s then into the upper 30’s. Water temp is going to fall. On the lake is was upper 60’s early this week.

Just back from 3.5 days of solid fishing on Rainy Lake. The weather was absolutely outstanding given the time of year. Saturday a bit tougher with 10-15mph straight out of the East.

Shore lunch on the daily, with at least 15 big fish ranging between 24 to 29.25 over the 3 days.

Fished MN side mainly, east of the Brule and one day trip up into the NW Bay.

    Pics to be shared later.
