Moldy wood framed windows

My windows are 18 years old and the windows frames that face the south are getting moldy from the moisture that drips down on the wood on the inside of the house. Is there a safe way yo remove the mold? Is there a good sealant to use once the mold is removed?

Is there any companies that specialize in cleaning the mold from the windows and window sills?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

You should be able to use a 1 part bleach to 3 parts water mixture, but I would start with a small area as a test to make sure it doesnt have any adverse affects. Otherwise there are commercially available products out there that you can spray on too.

18yrs old and moisture problems. Maybe time to consider replacements? Otherwise like Captain said clean them and if painting them use killz.

There is a product called Concrobium that cleans up the mold and does a better job of penetrating the material to prevent future mold problems. It’s available at most of the big box stores.
