Fished a little club tournament last weekend. Only the 2nd time on the lake so haven’t found the hot spots yet but managed to have a good time. I won Saturday with right at 14 pounds but came up short Sunday with only 4 keepers. The better fish I had Saturday came on a C-rig, off points, sit’n in 15′-20′ of water. Did get one off a brush pile with a shakie-head but all were off shore and deeper. Sunday I didn’t hit the right point at the right time plus there were lots more boats to fill up the spots. Did get one on my C-rig point, picked up 2 with a frog on the matted grass, and the last one flip’n creek channel trees in 13′-15′ of water.
Our winner Sunday fished crankbaits on the points and picked up a kicker on that Frog in matted grass. All the other limits came off points with everything from C-rigs to drop-shot. Hit the right one at the right time and limits come easy, hit it wrong and struggle all day. I’m still look’n for the big fish so can’t help there.
