    I spent the entire day on the water yesterday and encountered quite a variety of insects: cream midges, Light Hendricksons, March Browns, tan caddis, Black Adams (en masse), small light gray BWO’s. The best pattern of the day was a #18 black parachute ant trailed behind a #16 gray Adams. Nymphing wasn’t really an option – low, clear water, plus fish were readily taking flies on top, so you can’t beat that.

    Area streams are in fantastic shape. One major watershed that is not crystal but is certainly very fishable is the Main Branch of the Root.
