1st trip out to the Missouri river. Plenty of sandbars to run into. Had to work for our fish but found some eaters and a few nicer fish mixed in. Here are a few of the 28″+ walleyes we caught. Found most of our fish pitching jigs to shorelines and sandbars.

Nice fish. My son lives in Bismarck. Am familiar with hitting sandbars. My son does not know you can run a boat at half throttle. We both got thrown out of our seats last year.

“The storage limit at one’s residence is unlimited. It is illegal to take, possess or transport any of the following species of fish in North Dakota (they must be immediately released back into the water from which they were caught): pallid sturgeon, shovelnose sturgeon and lake sturgeon.”
Maybe the guy from Williston took the pic at his house. Gotta believe you can take a pic and release the fish.

Chinook salmon. The ND G&F started stocking them in Sakakawea back in the 70’s. That area above the Garrison dam is real deep and offers some pretty good salmon fishing some years.
It’s not that uncommon for them to come through the dam and end up in the river since on Sakakawea the spillway is at the bottom, so it’s the cold water from the bottom of the lake coming out, which is where the salmon often like to be.
Very cool, thanks for sharing the pics….impressive fish!
