Is the main basin where you fish perch to far to walk by foot? What baits usually work the best?

You could hoof it if you wanted to. It would be a hike, but not completely unreasonable. I have not fished Kegonsa in a few years, but I used to walk out and fish perch. Standard perch baits all work. Ratso’s, rat finkes, rockers, etc always seemed to be most productive for me out there. Anything with a horizontal profile, but try everything and let the fish tell you what they like.
