Hit the lower end of Pepin for a beautiful morning of chasing old marble eye. Once the wife and I dialed in the correct jig weight (1/8 oz) and color (gold) it was game on. No big ones (13” – 18”) but the bites were steady and often. 4 – 6 FOW. 50/50 mix of bites on half a crawler or jacked up fatheads. All fish released to be caught another day.

    Good fishing!

Thanks Kurt, we don’t hear from down there often enough.

Thanks for the report. I’ll be heading there this weekend for the first time. Were you casting or vertically jigging? Try trolling? I’m meeting my dad there I’m really hoping we can get on some fish. Looks like it’s gonna be hot.

I only cast to the wing dams. Troll cranks to cover a lot of water.

We love to power drift. Tools needed depend 100% on direction of wind. Sometimes kicker for thrust, bow mount for direction. Sometimes drift sock. It’s the river. Better come prepared to control your boat or you may be eating a salad and tator with no meat. Good luck.
