It’s March 25. There are quite a few years the ice has already been out. Average is April 14, and there’s no end in sight yet.
What’s everyone’s predictions? I’ll start: August 5

Any snow out there? We may get a good rain on Thursday, that will eat at the snow and ice. I’ll say April 15
I’ve been seeing water on the lakes in the afternoon. Assuming it’s snowmelt. How’s the ice conditions? I still want to get out one more time.

yea thats about the time i figure i might be able to plant my garden……..AUG!!!!!!!
Greg…..thats what i’ve been hearing to up in northern Mn….lotz of slush on the lakes!!!!
I’ll go with April 12. Once the snow is gone, it won’t take as long. The ice isn’t as thick and it’s not as solid as it normally is.
A possible heavy dose of rain on Thursday or Friday will really eat away the snow.
I drove on a lake near Cambridge on Sunday. A guy was coming off pulling an ice castle so I talked to him. Other castles and trucks on the lake. Early was best, by noon the snow and slush was getting soft so I got off. Lots of white ice with good ice underneath.
I drove out on Tonka March 20th and there were 5 other vehicles out. Still had snow on it but that should be almost all gone now. Ice was good and 18-20″. Access was getting slushy. It’s going to be awhile yet. It’s walking only for me now, although I drove out on a lake south of Tonka last Saturday. Same ice situation but the ice was ~2″ thicker. Gotta try the new Smitty sled.
Making a bit of ice tonight I suspect.
Ice still building up north where they are seeing subzero temps.
Sunshine and 50s are ice breakers.
