On my way up to the cabin yesterday, bit north of Milaca and my phone rings –

Alumacraft allocated La Canne’s two 165 Competitor tillers (to be built)
and my name is on one of them bad boys.
He also said this is there last allocation before the 20% price increase goes into affect.

Gunna do black and blue with a 60 Suzie.

    Bling it out with
Terrova 80 lb, 60″ shaft MDI w/spot lock
Mega live with a couple 12″ birds, touch screen

Not sure which trailer options I have yet
Prolly upgrade the 2 other seat to air ride
Not sure of my battery options

What other options are a must???
I know I will be getting the Corona Bottle holders. bout a 1/2 dozen or so of those.

My cover from grumpy is garbage. His installation is terrible too. There is a canvas place in Aitkin that did a much better job with superior materials on a buddy’s boat.

I agree with Beardly. I have a Grumpy cover on my Trophy and am not impressed at all. I’ve had it for two years and have had the local shop repair it twice. My previous boat I had the same local shop make one and it was FAR superior. Not even in the same league. I would not get the cover if I was you.

Yup I saw the upgraded speakers option and bow netting and will hit the yes button on those items.

I’m going to see if I can supply the batteries and if so they will be lithium.

Do the wave wackers get in the way of the cover?

and you 2 silly guys – strobes and a flag pole are standard features. wink

You can get a custom cover to go over them, or you can get a cut out around them too. I’ve seen both.

Your going to double the price of your boat with accessories, in which case you might as well get the Warrior! Get the 70 hp Yamaha. That’s a sweet engine. You’ll need the extra hp to push the corona cooler.

I got my Competitor 175 from Lacanne’s a year ago. Added bow nets, Grumpy’s cover and upgraded batteries to AGM for the bow. Their price for batteries was comparable to supplying my own so I gave them the sale on those. Course that means they’re financed with the boat. Love it all. Have been up north twice and the cover is great. Had to replace a couple plastic inserts that hold the snaps into the rail and had great customer service from Grumpy’s. Look at Lithium Pro batteries with NMEA connection and touch status buttons.

X3 on the grumpy cover. I’m not overly impressed with the cover and neither is the wife. It’s not even a year old and she said we should get a canvas craft cover this fall like on our last boat.

A 70HP upgrade and FULL tank of gas.

Times 2, I would say a 70 on that is almost a must have, not saying the 60 won’t do it but I’d say you’d be much happier with 70. That was our most popular model we sold. 👍

The 70 hp Yamaha is nearly 100 lbs lighter than the Suzuki 70 hp. I had one on my prior boat and loved it.

I have a Competitor 165CS with 60HP and it’s perfectly fine for 1 or 2 people. Get 4 people in the boat, or a full camping load for Voyageurs, and it takes a bit to get going though. Spitfire prop made a huge difference from the 3 blade Merc came with.

nice boat. My cousin has the exact same one with the exact colors.

Have zero experience with Grumpys covers but ive had my canvas craft cover for 7 years now. its starting to show some wear a little but overall its held up well. My boat is outside 365 days a year (shrink wrapped in the winter). Im thinking i should be able to get another 5+ years out of it easily so i would recommend them.

I researched them, but they sure dont give them away! Like over $700 for one group 29 sized battery. Sheesh.

The Suzuki is every bit as good as a Yamaha, plus they are sexier looking and a real panty dropper for the ladies which I know EPG cares about.

i think what he meant was they would design the cover to go around the wackers – meaning there would be no fabric where the wackers are. Sounds like you are thinking the fabric would go over top the wackers

Make sure the flagpole can double as a stripper pole. Tillers are perfect for a stage on the bow.

Oh don’t forget to upgrade to a captains chair.
