Hit Elwood Saturday with a pretty large group of guys. At one time, there were 9 of us on the ice fishing different areas. We fished the trees pretty hard and it was a real struggle all day long. I had one on, and he came unhooked, and that was it for me for the day. A couple other guys caught a few small LMB and panfish and one small ‘eye, with one decent crappie. We tried all kinds of different baits, but minnows seemed to have the best results. Most of the action looked to be deeper, but we’re thinking that some of that on the flasher was baitfish, too. Very possible…I could see them hiding in the cover from predators in that lake. All in all, a real slow day, but still a good time getting out on the ice. Ice was in good shape, probably a solid 12-14″ in most places. Looked a little sketchy clear out in the middle, so we stayed away from that. The lake is still real low and getting lower, it doesn’t look good if we get no water in there this spring.
