Watched the Redcrest Cup from LaCrosse this morning. Never been there. Looks like a fun place. Iaconelli is a hoot. I don’t know if he’s making fun of himself with all this ‘giant’ talk. He had ‘giants’ that weighed 1-11 and 1-12. I know this isn’t a new topic. I get a kick out of the guy. He was at the casino at Mille Lacs a couple years ago. For the Bassmaster Elite series. Seemed like a pretty good guy.

About 5 years ago the wife and I were fishing on the Mississippi during the Elite Series. It was fairly calm out, and I hear this loud yell in celebration. My wife asked “What was that?” I said “Oh that was Iaconelli-he must have caught a good one!” Sure enough he was couple hundred yards down around the bend

I’ve said it here many times that I saw him up at Mille Lacs (probably the same time Sam saw him). I just walked up to say hi and he ended up kicking out a chair and I had a nice hour long conversation with him. Very good guy. AND is interested in more than just bass fishing as he comes up here almost every year to ice fish with Dan Quinn of Rapala.

MLF Boat Official: 1 pound 11 ounces…

For the various episodes he’d travel to different major metro areas and team up with a local angler and try to get a limit of fish. I don’t believe the local was a guide. I thought he did an ice fishing episode on one of the Minneapolis city lakes. I liked the show…something different than most fishing shows.
