I hope to head up there this weekend and mostly fish Ceder Island. Anyone having any luck? Certain depths working better than others?

I was dumb enough to go out today in the snowstorm…
I think we got at least 8 inches more of the white stuff.
This snow is really making getting around tough.
We have 10-12 inches of ice, 2-4 inches of slush and now about 12-18″ of snow. It’s not pretty. The fishing had been OK, got into a few gills and crappies, and a few catfish.
I would start at about 8-10′ and move deeper as needed.Good luck, bring your 4X4 and a shovel!

January 11, 2009 at 3:12 am #735995I fished Long and Horseshoe on Thursday.
On Long, I found lots of small bluegills, none big enough for the knife. Also saw some dogfish, LM Bass and a few pike on the camera, but no takers.
On Horseshoe, I found a group of biting SM Bass!
I actually caught and released 2, (about 13 inches).
Had two more halfway up, they sure were bit good when they came in!
They nailed a Northland Forage Minnow tipped with waxies.
Also saw a few walleyes on the camera, but none with any size.Would like to find a pattern on bluegill locations on Horseshoe…anyone want to share?
Can’t seem to find them on Horseshoe in the winter.
In the summer they are all over.January 13, 2009 at 1:56 am #736635Bob, if you know where Mertens live, I always had good luck in that bay After Deadmans corner, coming from EV, then on the left, in the bay.
