Picture was taken about 65 yards away from the kitchen window. He came into the cabin yard about 4:30 yesterday, moseyed around then decided to scratch an itch.

Tom is this the bear that keeps showing up on people’s cameras around Rochester?
June 8, 2023 at 7:10 pm #2207355Based on the picture Ma and I figured he was over ten feet tall standing on his hinds. When he walked, it was more a waddle.
Beautiful pelt. Solid black, no brown or white. Many solid black bears have a brown muzzle. Not this guy. Black as tar. Walking away to his scratching post I could see his pads on the rear feet pretty plain and those feet were huge.
Its worth living to see something like this so close.

And your right, seeing critters like that is so worth it.

Don’t see that every day out of most kitchen windows!
June 9, 2023 at 9:21 am #2207450That’s one heck of a picture, standing up and in broad daylight too.
June 9, 2023 at 2:43 pm #2207484Could you hear if he was singing the Bear Necessities??
I could hear him huffing while he scratched.
June 9, 2023 at 2:50 pm #2207485He wouldn’t stay so “dinky” if you filled your deer feeder with donut holes!

September 3, 2023 at 4:37 pm #2222348If that is in fact 10 feet tall you have a world record black bear in your backyard. That’s Kodiak brown bear sized.
