I am purchasing a 621FS and will need to pull it quite a distance for its first trip. I have a 6.2L GMC Yukon Denali, standard towing package. Any advice on drop receiver height with this setup – 2″, 4″, none? I can fine tune it when I get back home to my garage, but may not have much flexibility on the road when I first pick it up. Appreciate any insight!

    What year Yukon?

I’d have the dealer/seller measure the height of trailer at axle.

Good excuse just to buy a few more sizes of hitches, fairly inexpensive and good to have on hand in the garage for life.

Not knowing what year Yukon. I would guess a 2inch but could also buy an adjustable hitch as well. It will not be straight I can almost guarantee that.

Trailers are getting lower and lower, and trucks getting taller. I’d bet it’s a 4 or 6 inch drop.

But an adjustable would be your best option for all around.

Use a 4″ drop on my 2014 Denali to haul a 21″ Sea Ray on EZ Loader tandem trailer. Not apples to apples to Ranger trailer, just putting in out there.

Attached is snippet from a 2020 Ranger manual for reference. The 621FS has a lot of tongue weight (mine is 700+ lbs) so will squat you vehicle quite a bit – probable 3 to 4 inches. As a rough guess, measure the top of your receiver tube unloaded, assume 3 or 4 inch squat and determine most likely hitch drop needed to meet the ranger numbers. Make sure that the ball mount and ball are rated for at least 5800lbs towing and 750 lbs tongue weight. Also keep in mind that this may exceed the rating of the Yukon hitch.

If anything, buy a couple different drops and return what’s not needed.

I have a 2020 Denali and a 621 and need all of 4 inches of drop for it. I have the adjustable hitch and it is almost all the way down, guessing 6-7 inches of drop.

Thanks everyone. 2016 Denali pulling 621 had safe weight at the hitch with anywhere from a 4 to 6” drop using the Weigh Safe hitch to measure tongue weight. Appreciate all the feedback and wanted to follow up.

    I’m running a 21 GMC At4 factory 2″ lift and I have a 2″ drop pulling a 185 alumacraft and it’s perfect My 12 F150 I had to flip for 1 1/2″ rise
