Always make sure your lower unit is full of grease. I do not have a heated garage so I keep my fish this time of year in a cooler. I also do not have a bilge pump to worry about. When I get my boat out of the water at the landing I get my motor upright to drain and fire the motor up for a second to clear impeller. Not sure if this is proper but I have never had a problem with freezing using this procedure.
I am sure you will hear from the pro’s.
    Good luck fishing.

I remove the screen and put in a plug to keep water out, takes just a few minutes. Most fish get CPR but any for taking home go into a small cooler in the boat..works great in freezing weather.

Yepper my screens just unscrewed and then I put on plastic caps with rubber washers. They came in a 2 pack from Fleet Farm. Standard 3/4″ thread I think.
