After reading Ted’s report on DeSoto my fishing partner Mike and I thought we would give it a try. Once again thanks to having to work for a living we were late. It has been years since I have fished DeSoto. We only caught a couple of nice crappies and one 12″ perch. They made a great breakfest. When ever we would move out to the east we could only pick up 6″ crappies. We tried everything and color we had. We were marking plenty of fish checking out our offerings but just not taking them.
The high lights of the day were making a new friend “Hello Glen ” and a bass mike caught on his jig stick – I’m sure Slop would like a few of these during a tourney. When you look over and your buddy is frantically looking for his ice scoop to get a fish out of the hole you know it has to be a good one. His line broke when the fish was half way up the hole. This fish still gave him time to find his scoop and make the catch. This made for fun conversation the rest of the day. I guess this fish just wanted his picture taken. Of course after the release is when we thought to measure it. All in all we had a fun day. Bummps Mike.
