Very sorry to hear that. That sucks rocks big time.
However, those guys probably knew what you had in there and waited for the right opportunity. It’s probably someone you’ve talked to while fishing.
January 27, 2005 at 2:34 pm #338998I am sorry for your loss. I know the anger and frustration that you are feeling. I had an expensive treestand and two nice hook-on ladder sections stolen this past fall. They were all padlocked in place with heavy chain and cable but still turned up missing. I hope that there is some way that you can find out who the thief is. Best of luck.

January 27, 2005 at 2:36 pm #339000I wish people could just other peoples things alone. Up here in the north metro we dont even lock the doors with an empty house. They still break in even if they cant see anything in it.
January 27, 2005 at 2:56 pm #339006Unfortunately it’s that time of year. Lake Waconia always seems to be one of the worst hit here in the west metro. I hope your insurance will cover your loss!!
January 27, 2005 at 3:02 pm #339008Same thing happened to us a few years ago.
Luckily for us, the buddy of the theives, was stupid enough to come back to the same lake the next afternoon with some of our stuff to go fishing. I recognized my new jig pole, and confronted him.
Actually, I saw it when I went to hook my truck up to his when he flagged me down to help him get unstuck. Idiot. Needless to say, I don’t leave anything in the shack that I couldn’t live without. Anyway, the feeling of being robbed sucks. Hopefully you’ll catch the guy.
January 27, 2005 at 3:04 pm #339010Steve, that guy is an idiot……….I guess people that do theive aren’t too smart……..
January 27, 2005 at 3:07 pm #339012My dad had his broken into last year down at Wilcox. They took his $100 heater, a fourty pound propane tank and 5 inch lazer auger.
I sure would like to wrap my hands around the neck of whomever is responsible! It just puts a bad taste in my mouth thinking someone would do that.
January 27, 2005 at 3:30 pm #339023BUB if by chance you find out who did it I suggest you use the three S rule..shoot shovel shut-up

Gary,
This guy sure wasn’t. He had him take us to the house to get all of our stuff back. Scared the He!! out of him. I still have one of his tip-ups with his name, address and Phone # on it. He couldn’t find one of the ones they stole from us, so he gave me his. Looking back, it’s so stupid that he came back to our lake, that it’s funny. Kinda.January 28, 2005 at 12:49 am #339151Isn’t it hard to imagine the gutless wonder ever going fishing with the nice gear that they STOLE from someone that more then likely worked and saved hard to purchase it? Or better yet envisioning this complete zero walking into some Pawn shop with this great ice fishing gear, walking up to the counter and saying something like “I just can’t take it any more, I bought all this great gear and I can’t catch a darn thing! Now how much was that? Okay. I’ll take that $25.” Just makes my blood boil thinking about those low down scum off the earth…….. But then again it’s a good excuse to go on a shopping binge and upgrade a step or 2………
January 28, 2005 at 2:10 am #339153Make sure to tell EVERYONE you see on the ice that it was stolen! Offer a reward, even put a few signs up in bait shop if they let you! Offer a no questions asked return! Low life thieves get scared when they know they will get caught!
January 28, 2005 at 2:31 am #339161Sorry to hear about your loss Bub. Any description of the items that may stand out?….People may be able to keep an eye out on the lake. This burns me as well. I finally broke down and quit locking my house and take everything with me now. Kind of a pain, but less pain than finding it gone. I’ve had windows broken and doors ripped off my house before. One time all they took was a hammer (to probably help break into the rest of the houses around me). Good Luck with your search!
January 28, 2005 at 2:56 am #339165the best thing is they took my 10 year nephews pole i bought for christmas, that he caught a two pound crappie on,and his little tackle full of jigs, and my three little tackle boxes full of tear drops and sinkers and misc..,and my big rubbermaid tackle box full of jiggin rapps 4 of them that i just bought yesterday
,and swedish pimple, and some knuckle ball jigs from FINN TECH and some misc.tackle, they took my old mr.heater cooker,a older strikemaster lazor mag with a worn out throttle cable, two wood tip ups they were nice enough to leave me two plastic ones, and clean out all my rods, and some other misc things. I’d love to catch’em and they would be the first human to drown while on the ice and not even get there feet wet
..
January 28, 2005 at 12:57 pm #339214Long story, so I will try to make it as short as possible. First off this fishhouse was owned by me and a couple of buddies of mine. We used to lock the door all the time, until it was broken into 3 different times. This was a very nice house. Furnace sink Refridgerator, etc. After replacing that everytime, we decided one night, that we would have my girlfriend drop us off at the lake just before dark. The 3 of us went to the fish house, and went in. We opened the window, and I crawled out, (since I was the smallest. 6’1″ 230lbs.) I put the lock back on the door, and crawled back in. Pulled the blinds over the windows, and put a blanket over them, so that they couldn’t shine the light in and see us. Well after about 4 hours of sitting there, we heard someone coming out. Keep in mind, we already new who they where, since the small spy camera’s had already caught them in action. Well, sure enough, they started destroying the lock and door, laughing and if I remember correctly, saying, who are these dumb that keep putting the lock on the door. Well needless to say, when they came through the door, we introduced ourselves as the Dumb . I won’t go into to much detail, but we were fully satisfied with the arrest, and the restitution, and despite one broken wrist (must have missed the target, and hit the ice), and some swollen nuckles,
we put an end the vandolism and breakin’s. While talking to my dad about this last weekend, he said that there has never been breakin on that lake that he has heard of. That was back in 89. Portable is the way to go.
January 28, 2005 at 1:50 pm #339229yeah i been hearing some rumors of who did it,only problem is he is 16 years old,it gets better he’s stealing for drugs,16 and stealing for drugs, been trying to figure out his parents name and thought about calling them, but i figure if the kids stealing for drugs, they probally play it off,so i’m gonna give the sherrif alittle tip,oh did i mention that sherrifs shack by also got broke into, broke his window and stole his curtain, some pretty despite kid, i also know what kind of boots he had on,same boot print in front of each shack that was broke into.
January 28, 2005 at 1:57 pm #339230Good luck! 16 sounds old enough for an
kickin if you ask me. Sounds like it is a bit over due.

Oh Man…am I rolling!!!
January 28, 2005 at 2:44 pm #339241Don’t take the law into your own hands. Get the info to the sherrif right away if you have suspicion of who it is. Get on the sherrif hard to get it resolved NOW.
The longer you wait, the sooner your stuff will be at a pawn shop……
January 28, 2005 at 2:46 pm #339242I am the law. Just kidding. That is good adivse Gary. No sense in getting into more trouble than they will over something that can be replaced.
January 28, 2005 at 2:52 pm #339245Give the problem to the local authorities and give them the “riot act”, getting on them hard to “take care of business”. If you show enough emotion about your loss and the problems occuring, they will take care of it!!!! That is what they are there for!
January 28, 2005 at 7:49 pm #339312I’d love to catch’em and they would be the first human to drown while on the ice and not even get there feet wet ..
BUB – this statement has me rolling on the floor. Man I’d like to be around to witness that. It sure conjures up some great payback in my mind. Gary’s advice about getting the law involved is most appropriate but it would be a lot more gratifying to give these thieving lil’ SOB’s a piece of your anger. I had my house broke into once and the things they took were priceless to me so I can feel your pain…… Man I’m glad it’s Friday….. Wabasha backwaters here I come!

Posts: 1778January 28, 2005 at 8:22 pm #339331I agree with you Gary, get the police involved.
I would even offer to help set up a sting scenerio.
Make a grandios spectical about restocking the house,
(don’t really leave the stuff there though)
whenever there’s activity on the lake from the direction the perp’s came from.
Then leave and hide out in the woods watching with survillance equip and a cell phone to call 911.January 28, 2005 at 8:42 pm #339347Well;
if ya set up a sting………I guess I would hide out with a potato gun………..In the shack………at close range…………..THUD, right in the chest!!!!!!!! WHOSE YA DADDY, HUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
