World Class White Bass Bite

    Devils Lake is known as one of the best perch, walleye and pike lakes in North America. I tell you the white bass fishing right now is phenominal.

    The past week or so I have been pitching # 5 Shad Raps into 3 – 6 feet of water and having a blast.

    I have no idea how many 17 to 19 inchers I have caught. I have been one of two fisherman doing this in my end of the lake with any regularity from what I can tell (Not including shore anglers). The exception is my fishing partner. We also are getting big numbers of walleye and good size pike mixed in as we work an area. I’d guess in two hours I’m catching at least 50 white bass and 24 walleyes. (All catch and release)

    FYI – My nephew holds the State record at 4.5#’s. I haven’t come close. That one was a freak.

    Those fish are so fun to catch. They don’t have the ariel skills of a smally, but arguably pull just as hard.
