Does anyone still target these this time of year? It’s been years, but have taken kids out a couple times finding something to do. I forgot how much fun it is at night and excellent table fare!

April 11, 2020 at 8:29 am #1932895Bullheads, first they steal your bait, then they swallow the hook half the time which is impossible to dig out, and they hurt like heck when they stab you.
Hmmmm….
1.they take your $hit
2.hard to get them off and away from you
3.leave you with scarsBuddy: hey Nick how’s the sucker fishing going
Me: was going great up until yesterday, man they were really on the chew then they showed up.
Buddy: yeah who’s that?
Me: the ex wivesFound a new name for em
April 11, 2020 at 11:13 am #1932928I’ve been trapping them for catfishing for the last week. I’ve got about 40 in the tank right now. I just pulled my traps because I’ve got enough for a while.

Aberdeen hooks with a 2″ shank.
April 20, 2020 at 8:18 am #1936103I’m sure that works but I don’t target them on purpose, always when sucker fishing and Aberdeen just doesn’t do it for me sucker fishing

April 20, 2020 at 12:58 pm #1936270A few years ago,I smoked a bunch in the spring,very tasty!
They are one of the best smoked fish I’ve ever eaten. When I was young ( Many years ago ) the DNR netted a Ton of them out of a local lake and were giving them away to anyone who wanted them. Some buddies and I took several 5 gallon pails full of them. Cut heads off, Gutted them, brined in a Brown sugar mix, and smoked them. Almost everyone who ate them said they were the best smoked fish they had ever eaten.
