We have a brick fireplace that we haven’t used in years. It’s vented, got a chimney, etc. Not wanting to burn wood anymore, does anyone have an idea for an electric insert that looks nice, provides the ambiance of a real fire and maybe a little heat ?

I’m no help, although my gas puts out the heat.

Sorry about the crappy photo. To lazy to get out of the chair to turn the light on.

We have a Dimplex unit that comes in a media center, but I believe you can get the heating unit alone. Looks pretty natural and heats a 20 x 30 room.

My last winter/spring/summer project was finished out a new family room in the basement. Built a fake chimney for the entertainment center amd put an electric fireplace in. I’d have to dig the paperwork up on who made it, but we did test the heat function of it amd it did a pretty good job of warming up the room (15×22).

So, is there any info about how efficient they are compared to gas?

Thanks for the input ,guys. I did look at the Dimplex on-line.
    Price-wise, not too bad.

Can’t help with the electric insert. FIL had a gas insert installed in his wood burning fireplace. Worked great and heated so well the furnace barely turned on.
