Hi guys, I just ordered a terrova 80/60/us2/ipilot and I couldn’t be more excited to get it installed. I have a couple questions. My boat currently has a 12 volt powerdrive and I’m powering my bow mounted fish finder off of the same battery as the powerdrive. Is there a way to hook up my fish finder power and ground wires to have only 12 volts while the trolling motor has 24? What size circuit breaker do I need for this? I’m just trying to get all the parts I need to get this installed ASAP. Thanks in advance.

You can pull 12v off ONE of the Terrova batteries. You may get interference on the screen though when the terrova is running. 3 Amp fuse on the graph line is the norm.
60amp breaker is what you will need for the terror, the 50 you most likely have now WILL blow when used hard.
When I re wired my boat for 24v I used jumper cable wire for a few reasons.
It was cheaper, heavier gauge, more flexible and better insulated.
I also soldered all connections.Did you get a 2 bank charger yet? or maybe a 3?
Removable mount? You will love the motor!

On the backside inside the male plug you can see the wiring ports, one indicating 24 and the other indicating 12 with the common negative going back to the batteries. On the female recepticle both batteries are kept separate and the plug / recepticle do the combining for the 24 volt trolling motor and the 12 volt electronics.

Run the wire from your starting battery for it. You will be much happier. I tried to do this and it just did not work out for me.
July 31, 2013 at 2:05 am #1186557Check to see if your model of fish finder has a power cord with a filter on it to guard against electrical noise from the trolling motor, or run separate power from a battery that produces no noise. On my Alumajet I power the front fish finder off the trolling motor power and have no issues. PD 55 and Humminbird 385.
August 1, 2013 at 12:07 am #979441I have not yet picked up an on board charger, I was thinking about getting a AGM battery/charger kits from Cabelas. What do you guys think about that? I was hoping to use the removable mount from my powerdrive, does anyone know if they are the same as the terrova? Thanks for the help
August 1, 2013 at 1:00 am #967835Mounts are same for Power Drives and Terrovas. As far as chargers people around here love Minn kota. What does Cabelas reviews say about their product.
