Did I miss the memo on tire prices?

Tread is low, time for new tires, thinking bye bye 500, no bye bye 1k. Dang! My 2015 Pilot did very well with Continentals now after 5 years the price has doubled-Falcons are cheaper but also louder on the highway which makes me think gas milage goes down too. Will probably just pay for the Continentals at Discount Tire unless I get a better idea from the forum—Thanks

The memo was several pages long and tires were listed on the last page. It was easy to miss.

For 2023 most commodities look to be stable to actually lower pricing……except Aluminum and Rubber, they are still going up. I bought a set I knew I was going to need next spring last fall in hopes to avoid the new year increase.

Arghh…and I still remember back in the days you could get 4 LT tires for about $200. Passenger tires just a bit over $100.

The tires I am running on my Tahoe have gone up $50 each the last 2 years in a row! Witch was less that the 100% increase that WAS in the memo so I guess we are supposed to be happy about that.

Yes they have.Once again after covid hit mid to late 2020 they started going up like everything else.We were getting Emails every 3 months or so of a 3,4,even a 6% increase. It seemed to kind of level off in 22.

Just put continentals on the wives SUV for a bit under $800. Do not remember the exact size but they are 17 inch tires. Wanted michelin tires but they could not get them, which is odd, they had always stocked them in the past. Said they were about $200 higher. Maybe they have gone up that much in the last 120 days, but I would shop around.

Honda likes to spec in some unique sizes which does not often help on price either.

I don’t remember spending less than $800 in the last 15 years on a set of 4. How old are you guys?

    Yep regardless of size.

Yeah it’s been over $1k for a set of decent truck tires mounted for quite some time

Worked at a shop back in high school and college. Could get special pricing and do all the work myself after hours. I think the most expensive set I put on a family members truck was $290ish out the door. Miss that job sometimes.

For the last two sets I have bought within the past year, I watched FF for their sales when they have 3 get one free, and then I request DT to price match and they have. A 4th tire free really lowers the price.

Thanks mostly wanted to commiserate-I have asked at the auto shop what the biggest tab they have seen that week, that can keep things in perspective.
