So who is hunting this weekend? Think it actually starts Friday. Not sure if we will be hunting SE MN again this year or the new zone near Aitkin. Good luck to those that are going.

We’ll see which way the wind blows. Last weekend was first one I haven’t hunted in a while. They’re herded up, so your either on them or not.

I will be out. But not in a zone that has a CWD hunt. Should be pretty quiet with bow in hand this weekend.

I’ll be out in 605. The weather is gonna take a turn for the colder. And I’m entering a phase of pre-Christmas/family events so I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to be out, but I’ll be trying.

Nope. I won’t take part in the Mn DNR’s eridacation of the deer heard. Their means of CWD control is out of hand.

This is very true right now:

They’re herded up, so your either on them or not.

Hearded is 100 percent right on. Have a group of 12 to 18 come out every night at 5 minutes to last shooting light like clock work. By the time I walk the field edge back to the truck there will be another 20 on opposite side of the field. The corn field they eat in every evening looks like there isn’t a single spot un touched or un dug.

I think I decided to retire for the season. We got 5 in my house. Now for a full weekend of making sausage.

We are not seeing hearded up yet in our areas. Hoping they will soon , still have bucks chasing the does around getting the ones that are coming back into heat. Plus we still have 200 acres of corn the farmer has not harvested yet. Last year he didn’t take till April.

It’s mid December. Archery is still open.
I don’t agree with the January February when they’re baited and killed at night. But right now if I wanted to tag another deer I could regardless of cwd mandatory testing weekend with allowance of firearms. Would probably archery hunt outside cwd zone in whitewater if I were to hunt this weekend anyway. The cwd season has no impact to me choosing to hunt this weekend is what I’m getting at.

I have not seen them really herded up. Granted Im not hunting super high deer density areas. Im excited for the cold to really make them get on their feet earlier is my hope. Still sticking to thick cover close to natural browse for me. With the snow I should be able to check a few areas to see where I need to sit pretty easily.

You’re right but the post was specifically about the CWD hunt which is ment to drastically reduce deer densities.

Hope you get out! Stay warm.

This hunt doesn’t seem much different than having different fishing regulations to manage lakes. If it’s good or bad I have no idea. Hopefully somebody that knows more about deer than I do is making those decisions. This is also a good chance to use up some un used tags.

Sitting in the woods trying to intercept the deer that have been moving prior to dusk lately. This unique snowfall has already made the decision to trek outdoors worth it. I feel like I’m wandering through an artist’s winter painting.

Successful hunt for us. Came home with two does from SE MN. Sure was a lack of hunters in that area compared to the first years of the CED hunt down there. We saw over 40 deer in two days. Huge difference from hunting the northern part of the state. Next time I hunt SE MN I’m hitting the treadmill before going. Those hills are no joke.

How’d you get 8 pictures to load. That is like magic. I can’t load 2 in 1 post

There’s a 10 MB limit per post on photos. Depending on your phone 1 photo can be around 5 MB so one or 2 would get to the limit. Small files like screenshots or downloads from messages are less than 1 MB so you can add a bunch of them.
