Got my first real taste of boat fishing the St. Croix Saturday by putting in at Hastings and motoring down to Prescott, Wi. Unbelievable difference in water quality. I bought a Hot Spot lake map for the stretch from Stillwater to Prescott and am looking to get really familiar with this area. I’m not worried about finding smallies and walleyes but was wondering if anyone has any crappie info on the river. I know of some ice fishing and spring time areas but would like to find some this time of year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking for them too. I usually find them along the Minnesota shoreline, right next to the beach & Marina on Highway 10. The docks over there usually hold some slabs. I have not found any yet though.

Is that a spawn thing or are they there all summer? Any timber to be found in the Croix? Thanks for the info.

Most of the year they are there. But catching them can be tricky anytime.
