Musky action has been awesome lately. Fish are in a mix of deeper summer humps with wood, deeper weed edges and slop areas. Bucktails have caught nearly all of our fish the past few days in the wind. Since Saturday clients have boated 41.5, 42, 33, 38.5, 46.5, 34 and the guide got a 37.5. We have lost 3 others. Feeding windows have been very sporadic and very unpredictable but when they bite it has been very fast. 5 hours with nothing then 2 follows and 2 boated in 10 minutes. Stuff like that.
Walleye are still going great on cranks in mid depth wood humps and weed lines.

Fished all over the west side yesterday and did great of crappies. Found a lot of fish very high in the water column. (5-10 feet down over 20+ feet of water) Average size was prob a little over 9 inches with the biggest being 12. Fish we very aggressive and we had a blast out there yesterday! Good Luck! Ice was around 10 everywhere we went. There are a few pretty good slush pockets out there.

Haven’t posted in a while, a very long while. Fishing has been great on the Chippewa Flowage so far this season. Lots of crappies up shallow a week or so ago. Cold snap moved in and now most fish are out deep or scattered just outside of spawning bays. We limited out yesterday in the 6-12 foot zone. Water temps are around the 50 degree mark in the main lake and close to 53 in most of the bays. Cold nights and shifting winds are making it difficult to keep the lake warm enough to force the crappies into the shallows. Opening weekend should be fantastic for crappie anglers looking for fish in wood. Here are a couple of videos from the past week or so on the Chippewa Flowage.

Opener for walleye this Saturday? Does anyone target them on the Chip? Or is that a non-event? Been many years since I fished that area, exclusively for Muskie. Is Hermann’s Landing still around? Keep posting, your updates from last year were great to follow. peace

Yes people target walleye. Fishery is healthier than I have ever seen it for walleyes. They put a 3 fish limit and a protected slot on breeders last year and that is going to do great things for the Chip. Hermans Landing is now “The Landing” Should be a great weekend. Big walleyes will be in shallow wood/weed growth smaller fish will be in deeper water. But who knows haha! Crappie fishing will be phenomenal. Fish are stating to load pretty heavy now. Here are clients Craig and Karen with a few they kept from yesterdays trip as well as a few crappies from the past few days. Water temps are 52-60. Good Luck!

Wow, Nice crappies for sure…didn’t remember those from 20 years ago. Looks like I’ll need to get back over there someday. Do you work any other area lakes besides the “Chip”? Looking forward to more of your reports. Good luck this weekend! peace

Walleye Video- Chippewa FlowageSorry for the lack of reports recently. Things have been crazy! Fishing has been up and down with the up and down weather this past week. Musky have been decent. Getting good opportunities a couple of times a day. Smaller bucktails fished fast over main lake weeds has been best. Water temperatures on the Chip are around 65. Walleye fishing has been up and down. We are targeting bigger fish in shallow water so maybe the deep water bite is a little less effected but by the weather. We are fishing a combination of weeds and wood in less than 12 feet of water. Its getting pretty tough to fish right in the thick stuff as a lot of the spots are getting pretty choked out. I havent fish for them but gills are getting done spawning and crappies have been all over the place in the deeper water and weeds. More walleyes and musky this week! Give our walleye video a watch. Fun Bite!
