Chipmunk in boat

I doubt this has been discussed on here before…but I had my boat up north covered outside for about a month for my wedding and honeymoon and once I took the cover off I found chipmunk feces a little all over inside. I took it homed and gave it a good cleaning and didnt see anything but then once I was outside I heard it chirping a few times, must be underneath the floor somewhere? Does anyone have a good way to lure it out of there? Could it be stuck inside (deep V style boat)?

    thanks,
    Mike

Send a snake in after it.

Each floorboard section is just held down with a few screws. Take one of the panels off.

I’d put in a rat size snap trap and bait it with peanut butter. Two even better in case he has company. Cover boat and see what happens.

Try a small treble hook w/peanut butter tied to long leader attached to panfish rig.

    Call the Rescue Rangers
You can try a small animal trap, they are around $15.

Seriously, though, rat traps are cheap and generally come in a 2-pack. My dad frequently catches chipmunks in them.

    ^^^^ This.

I’d bet a large % of the rat traps sold are used to catch chipmunks. Little buggers can really eat a boat, you’re lucky you have any seats left.

I’ve even seen a blue jay fall to one!

Then get a mountain lion to get rid of the snake.

Put the plug in and start adding water.

ut the plug in and start adding water.

This would be the quickest solution. It would even flush out the mongoose. Make sure to unhook the battery first. But it might be the worse smelling solution in the long run.

I thought about doing the water idea but just didnt want it to drowned and get stuck somewhere in there and then stink forever. Also maybe a dumb question with that but would the weight of the water be too much for the trailer?

Blue Jays love peanuts. You want entertainment, put in shell peanuts out and watch those buggers go at it.

Regarding the chipmunk, I trap is best, water/decon would probably do the job too, but who knows if it would get chased out by the water, and decon they would likely just “store” it somewhere for the winter.

I wonder if transporting him in your boat would be considered harboring invasive species? -)

I’d keep him as a boat pet. You could feed him your dead minnows.

A chipmunk in the boat is still better than a crab on the organ.

Just sing “Alvin, Simon…” and then be real quiet. If you hear nothing, you are ok. If he is singing along, then you have an issue.

Take the little guy out on rough water and he might leave on his own, got rid of a mouse that way once

Put some bait out. Dress in camouflage and wait with a 12 gauge. Trap loads should be heavy enough to do the job. whistling

Let him be. Remember the member who had the tree frog who’d come out when he fished. You could teach him how to net your fish and take pictures of you holding your fish.

    Make some lemon aid.
