It might be winter but I still have muskie fever. My uncle has a cabin on Chetek and I am hoping to visit him this summer. How healthy is the Muskie population on Chetek? Or are Muskie even in the lake? I guess I usually operate under the assumption that most all northern wisconsin lakes are muskie havens.

Have never caught a Muskie on the chain. Big Northern, yes. For Muskie check out Potato Lake. It is East of Chetek.

They don’t list muskies as a species in these lakes although I would guess there are some lakes nearby that have muskies.

I think you are out of luck. No muskies on the Chetek chain, not I agree, Potato is a great musky lake.

There are LOTS of musky lakes off of Hwy 40… Island Chain,Lower Long, and Ammacoy just to name a few. Like it was stated before, there are no muskies in the Chetek Chain. PM me if you need more info… Paul
