I’m heading up to Bayfield, WI next week and looking for an updated fishing report. I typically target Salmon and Trout in the mornings by the Sioux & Onion, then I look for smallmouth. From what I am hearing the bite has been very tough and live bait is needed. Must be a good season for guiding, all local guides are booked solid! They have told me with travel bans in place their business has been awesome, glad to see they are busy. Bait shops have told me they have sucker minnows, so that’s a start! Otherwise they have told me to bring plenty of tackle because their supplies are very low this season.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Strong NW winds kept me off of the bay the past 3 days. Will be out the next three though. Smallmouth fishing has been hit and miss. You DO NOT need sucker minnows only to catch smallies esp in the fall. We will catch most of our fish on artificial baits. The live bait is a good secondary choice. I have not heard good reports from guys trolling in shallow water off of the river mouths. We need rain. Good luck and sent you a PM.

A little late report but last weekend was great!
Went 5-7 Friday and 13-16 Saturday trolling cranks. Also got a superior PB brown of 31”. Saturday was much less windy than what the forecast said and made the best of it. Most fish came 50-80 FOW 5-15 ft down.
