Going to be fishing the Cass lake area this weekend for opener. Anyone else going to be up that way? Any tips or pointers on what to try for walleyes this weekend? My lake walleye skills are a little lacking.

    Thanks.

Been a number of years since I’ve been to Cass for opener, however in years past we always did well in Allen’s Bay not far from where the river enters. Like most lakes it can pay to get away from the crowds a bit. My best bet has always been anywhere I can find some weed growth. Standard jig/minnow or jig/plastic has always worked, but I would imagine that cranks could be a good option as well.

If Cass is slow and you don’t want to fight the crowd in the river don’t be afraid to try Pike Bay. North end produces early season 10’-15’ jig & shiners.
