Building getting tore down by cabelas in Woodbury

I know this is a dumb question but my wife and I have been going to that cabelas since it opened last year or so. And remembered that the giant building to the east I thought was getting built. Went there yesterday and the damn thing is getting tore down. I thought they just built that thing. Why was it getting tore down?

It’s the old State Farm building that’s been sitting empty for years. They haven’t been building it, they’ve been building around it while they have been trying to find another tenant or use. The building, apparently, was just impossible to split up or otherwise utilize, so they decided to scrap it.

On the site will be a new hotel, Tria Orthapedic center and a whole bunch of other retail.

I had long thought that the whole campus was a massive waste of good land and having just one building on an 80 acre site just pushed the sprawl elsewhere. I’m glad the land is finally being put to productive use.
