I haven’t fished Balsam yet this year and was wondering if there is a lot of snow on the lake or is traveling around pretty easy. Any word on the bite would be a bonus. I would be looking for gills during the day and crappies at night.

    Congradulations on the big win!

As of late January, the bite was pretty good out there. I haven’t fished it for two weeks now, but it was going good. Key was to find fish that were in shallow water feeding (‘gills). Crappies I haven’t heard much of, but you get a few mixed in with the gills. Perch were hammering baits, but hard to find when they are out on mudflats in 32 f.o.w…or somethin like that

Thanks for the info. I’m going to try make it over this saturday. I’ve been hungry for some nice sunnies all winter. I mean crappies are good, but sunnies (& perch) are way better!

    Thanks again,

    Fred
