On a lighter note an asteroid will pass between the earth and the moon on Saturday. It could be as big as 300 feet and easily seen. The government wants to assure you there is no danger and you should not be afraid.

I’ll wait for the reruns on Sunday morning. I didn’t hear the size of it on the radio this morning but I was kinda hoping it would be big enough to tip the earth a bit with it’s gravitational pull to keep us in this great freeze/thaw cycle to keep from MAJOR flooding they were predicting a few weeks ago.
March 24, 2023 at 11:03 am #2191028If the government is assuring me there’s absolutely no danger, it looks like my Friday night routine will now involve polishing up our will and getting affairs in order.

March 24, 2023 at 12:29 pm #2191055In doing a search for this to learn more, the most interesting thing I saw was from the Jerusalem Post where they state the Asteroid is as big as 22 Tuna Fish. Not 21, not 23 – 22 Tuna Fish. Didn’t specify it that was blue fin, yellow fin, etc.

My public school math puts those 22 Tuna Fish at an average length of 13.64 feet. No matter what species those are some seriously BFTs
March 24, 2023 at 6:39 pm #2191112Some say a comet will fall from the sky
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves
Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still
Followed by millions of …Learn to swim, I’ll see you down in Arizona bay
March 24, 2023 at 6:56 pm #2191115don’t look up
That’s a terrific movie, ends up exactly how it probably would in real-life…
For those who haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth your time (in an entertaining way)

It’s been in the sky for 4.5 billion years
You’ve seen it many times
March 25, 2023 at 7:31 am #2191160Great. Open water season is coming and here comes a damn astroid just when I got the boat out of storage and can get it back under cover. It would be just my luck…
March 25, 2023 at 8:00 am #2191169Storage? Who puts their boat in storage?

NASA usually uses the standard school bus or sky scraper unit of measurement. Anything to avoid using the metric system I guess.
March 25, 2023 at 8:04 am #2191170I read that NASA has a space shuttle equipped with a nuke in the payload bay readied on a launchpad down at Cape Kennedy to blow it to pieces if necessary. We have nothing to worry about because they’ve hired Billy Bob Thornton to manage the mission if needed and he’s managed a similar mission previously that was successful.

Still forecasting major flooding based on historical data. That first warmup and heavy rain will do it. Don’t want another 2001.
Everyone should get out Atari Asteroids and start shooting. If you don’t kill the spaceship, that will bring a major flood?
