I currently run an EchoMap 93UHD for Livescope and love the weight and amp draw savings it gives, especially for icefishing. I’ve been kicking around the idea of keeping an eye out for a good deal on an Ultra 106sv for the larger screen/higher resoluton, but does that higher resolution equate to a better displayed Livescope image? I’ve seen a review by a respected Livescope guru that said the Echomap93 produced a noticably better image than the ULtra 106 did, to his surprise… has anyone else personally seen that between the two units?

If that’s true i’ll obviously stick with the Echomap93, if not, then I have a tough decision based on the added cost and big amp draw increase the Ultra has….

I have both the 106 and 93 with livescope networked together. 106 is on the bow and 93 is on the dash for the boat and I run the 106 with the ice bundle in the winter.

There is a difference between the 2 and noticeable. The 93 definitely shows everything you need, but if you put them side by side, you will focus more on the 106.

This winter, i was debating using the 93 as it’s a little more portable, less amps etc but I am going to stick with the 106 as it is a better picture.

The nice thing about the 106 is the added network port. I can network the 106 and 93 together without the added network switch for the boat.

I run an amp lithium 18ah battery and can get about 8 hours out of it on the ice.

8 hours with the 106 Ice Bundle? That seems high since the 106sv draws almost 3x the power of the 93sv… I get about 10 hours on my 93sv ice bundle with an 18ah Amped battery, but I likely have the background light on high… Does the Ultra 106 use the same power cord as the 93sv? To fit the 10″ Do you use the Garmin XL Ice bundle bag or Summit?

Garmin XL Ice bundle bag and mount. Yes I turn the screen down. I do not recall on the power cord. I want to say they are different. Will look tonight when i get home but never paid alot of attention to that portion.

Its definitely alot more to carry around. No doubt about that part. It is one of those things though that once you use the one it’s hard to go back to the smaller one.

I originally went with the 106 and then added the 93 for the boat on one of the 600 dollar sales they did. But looking at them both I kept pondering this same thing this summer and i am definitely staying with the 106 for the ice this year.

Thanks, I appreciate the info! I sure do like the 93 bundle only weighing about 20 lbs and the low amp draw, it’s kind of hard to justify the $1,000 price difference for just an inch of screen, but if the resolution makes a big difference, then maybe its worth it… I only use Livescope in the portable bundle all year (I run Humminbird on my boat) so the networking options aren’t that important to me…

I asked about the power cord because it would be nice to ONLY have to swap out the cradles on the Garmin shuttle if I eventually do upgrade to the 106, I currently use the shortened Ice Bundle power cord….

Tried posting photos of the wire harnesses.

Same 4 pin style on both but the gauge is different in them. Not sure how that would affect performance.

First one is the 93 with an 18 gauge

    The 106 has a 16 gauge

Thanks, I guess that makes sense given the 3x amp draw of the 106… so is that 106 power cord basically a boat rigging cord so its like 20’ long?

Yes it is the one for the boat. Came with the unit.

wife gave me the livescope and 106 on our wedding day as my gift. She had it all ordered through a friend of ours who is well known in the livescope world. Was highly recommended to go with the 106 ultra over the 93. Needless to say there was no jitters on the day after I opened that up.

Then we added the ice bag after.
It all fits in the garmin xl bag but definitely could be shorter for that purpose.
