Anybody been out?

Did anyone hit big Winnie over open? How was it?

Fished opener with my two boys along the north shore and in Tamarac Bay. We avoided the groups and had a good bite from 10-2p rigging in 12 FOW. Netted a bunch of nice perch and 10 slot walleyes 21-23″ with one 25″ over. All fish went back in..although next time the perch may go in the box.

Just got back. Wind kept us off of Winnie on Wednesday when we arrived, so we hit Bowstring instead and did pretty good. Tons of small pike, but enough walleye and perch to keep it interesting and enough to keep us going back there instead of trying the big lake. Working jigs and minnows anywhere from 6-8 feet on Wednesday and as deep as 10-14 as the week went on and the water cooled. On Friday a couple groups from Highbanks reported a really good bite on Winnie down near the mouth of the Mississippi, but everyone that worked that area on Saturday said it died.
