Catching the crawlers or catching fish on the crawlers? Yes to both. Picked about 10 dozen last week during the last good rain. Just about out of those now. Caught 2 legal Sat, 3 Sun, and 5 more last night. Probably caught 50 short fish.

Thanks man. Just wondering if they were hitting crawlers. That tells me I need to get my sorry ass out there. I have crawlers and a working boat.

I have really good luck using slowdeath hooks on my livebait rigs out there. Sometimes glo bead, sometimes not with crawlers.

Yes. Early season before opener in WI, river fish were hitting jig/crawler better than plastics or jig/minnow. Seems to have carried through into opener…

20 years of dragging crawlers and never caught one on the Croix until today. Just a baby but now I know why people target them. Crazy strength. 6.5’ Legend Elite medium light rod. 6# test. What a battle.

That was my neighbors boat. I think it’s 17 or 18 ft Monark. 150 horse black motor. 4 stroke

thought it looked like a King185! ) Bought one of those back in 2004/2005 – had a Suzi 140 on the back. Traded it last summer for the new rig – an Alumacraft Competitor 185… Really liked the King but was time for a new rig. )

Maybe it was a King. I never paid any attention. His is 21 years old. Engine isn’t. He blew up his 115 Merc. Kid had it. Operator error.
Nice fishing boat. Windshield snd Bimini top.

I finally got out last night to shake the boat down. I murdered a few crawlers but didnt catch a single fish. Didnt fish very long before I had outboard issues and headed in. OMFG is it busy out there. Weekday afternoons look like weekends.

Busy would be an understatement! I thought I was getting off work early enough to beat the crowd at the launch but I miscalculated! I am scared to see what this weekend is like!?

I fished last week when the wind was 20-30 out of the south….had the river all to myself but started reminding me of my South Dakota roots! When you bury your trolling rod in the wave up to the handle you know your fishing!
