Anybody have an educated guess on when they will be allowing 1/2 ton trucks on Adrian’s Road?

Working on a plan for my Christmas Break fishing trip (Dec 27-28) and not sure what is going to be possible. Would like drive myself out and fish out of a portable.

I understand that in order to get the most accurate info I should call the resort. However, I don’t see any reason to bother them with this as it is all speculation at this point.

Don’t worry, I won’t hold you to it. wink

Looking at the temps early next week. I think you will be alright.

They have to be pretty close to letting them out by now, but especially after this cold snap.

Things are shaping up nicely. I think the road is going to be good to go. Now I just hope this cold front doesn’t shut down the bite.

We are going up on the 28th. Hopefully out of Zipple Bay if the ice is thick enough. It looks like things should be good to go by then.

Lake Road Lodge posted this on there Facebook page. Adrian’s is allowing vehicles less than half ton on the ice road.

Morris Point posted some info also.

We made it up to fish off Adrian’s Road on Wednesday 12/27 & Thursday 12/28. Fished out of by Clam hub shelter both days. Drove out to the end of the road and went out slightly northeast.

The -34 air temp. on Wednesday gave us some obstacles to overcome. The hubs on the shelter didn’t want to lock out. Primer bulb on my Eskimo auger was frozen solid. Propane heaters wouldn’t work. We did manage to get set up and fish but probably won’t try that again if the temps dip that low. I think the air temp. on Thursday was closer to -10 and set-up was a breeze. Not sure what the cut-off is but I do know -34 is too darn cold.

Fishing wasn’t fast and furious for us but did manage to catch quite a bunch of saugers. I would guess we released 2 or 3 for every one we kept. A couple of eelpout and a tulibee also caught the ride topside.

It was a trip we won’t forget anytime soon.

Gonzo, how thick was the ice when you were up there?

I’m guessing there was about 24” where we fished. Plenty of ice on the lake. They are finally getting enough ice on the bay for travel. Looked like some people were starting to set up on the river but not sure how much ice in there yet.
