Above Coon Rapids?

So thinking about opportunities closer to home, how is the river above Coon Rapids for smallies?

I’ve heard it can be good. I’ve heard the river above 169 can eat a lower unit, but that’s not a huge concern.

I used to fish it alot years ago but the increase in recreational traffic has kept me away.Fishing used to be pretty good but seemed to be on the decline the last few seasons I tried it out.Have spent some time below the dam the past few summers and have had fun without jet skis or boats with large wakes buzzing close by.
