What prop are you running on your 1850 Reata with a 175 hp engine? Mine came with a 19 pitch tempest plus. I think it may be too much prop or the wrong prop. My hole shot is sluggish and my rpm’s max at 5500. Engine can go to 6000 rpm’s. Looking for better overall performance and water sports.
Sounds like you need to drop down to a 17 inch pitch, there’s a place in Plymouth that might help, prop doctor or something like that.
I have a Reata with a 175 Yamaha vmax. I run a Yamaha salt water series 2 stainless prop. It’s a 17 pitch prop.
I think that’s what you need.
I have a rev 4 17 pitch and a tempest plus 19 pitch. The tempest will gain a little on top but everywhere else the rev 4 is better. Holeshot is awesome with the 4 blade. I have a Mercury 150 4 stroke.
