Detroit Lakes Area Walleye Report 6-30

Well, headed out around 7pm with my FIL and my son, Lucas. Started fishing the same area that Lucas and I had fished nearly a week ago. Were marking plenty of fish in 24-27 fow, but getting them to bite right away proved to be the tough part. We were pulling spinners and crawlers again.

First fish in the boat was a nice, headshaker that stayed down and didn’t want to come up. Ended up being a nice 27-1/2″ walleye on the end of my line! My PB for my boat, so another bonus! A few pictures and she was released for another day.

We continued to work the same depths for the next hour or so, with my FIL getting 4 walleyes that were all too small to keep. So it was nice to see him not get skunked. For the archs that were on the graph tonight, I thought alot more fish would have been put in the boat.

My only fish of the night was the big girl, so I wasn’t too bummed out. We trolled bouncers, blades and crawlers tonight. Speed was anywhere from 1.1-1.4 mph Water was warm, showed 76.4 degrees and with the heat it is only going to get higher.

It was nice to see this fish swim off quickly, as the warm days can sometimes be difficult on fish.

  1. Nice fish Loren, looks like you guys had a good time and included some of the family as well. Congrats on the fishing, hopefully the weather starts to cool off soon!
