Doing a day trip to the Waubay area. Currently fishing an old road ditch in 18fow with tipups on top of the road in about 10fow. One walleye so far. We had a northern spool a tip up to the point that the tip up jump up 3 incheS when the line broke off the spool.

6″ sounds great to me! I won’t be out there for three weeks! Should be driving to the hot spots by then! Keep on making ice!

A few things I took away from the trip….
I love SD. We saw a ton of deer, a bunch of pheasants and water everywhere. We ended the day with 4 walleyes. I lost 2 half way up and 1 on the hookset. We broke 4 very large northerns off just below the ice. I would put all at 30+. I lost my biggest ice northern at the bottom of the hole. When I tried to get the head.through it rolled and broke my line. We will be back with the right equipment to catch these pigs. we also probably had 30 solid marks that would come look at our baits but wouldn’t go. We threw eveything at them but only caught the walleyes on a dead stick and all but one of the bites/fish came on a plain hook. It was a long day of driving and fishing but anyday you are out.of the house is a good day.

Not sure how the ice pick will show up on the computer but I thought it looked cool.

I also learned that if you pull up to the local bait shop with MN plates no one knows anything…. doah

Nice report. SD is God’s country for sure.

After growing up in SD, living and visiting several other states, something about SD keeps pulling me home.

Iced a bunch of fish yesterday and killed a limit of roosters this afternoon.

    Heaven? No, it’s South Dakota.
