A group of us went up to the Red River this last weekend for some catfishin with big fish in the boat. Hard to fish during the day, was too hot, so most of our fishing was at night. Frogs, cut sucker and shrimp were the bait of choice. This picture is big fish of the trip @ 19 lbs. 2 1/2 days put 190 lbs in the boat. Had such a good time I’m planning a trip up there at end of September.

September 10, 2014 at 8:07 pm #1453617Sounds like I need to add this to my bucket list. How do you approach the river up there? Anchor up and fish the breaks? Where do you lay on a bunch of frogs? This is without a doubt the best year of catfishing around here I’ve ever seen. Last year my average was 28 inches. This year has been off the hook with a 31 inch average. I might be up for a trip swap if someone knows what they are doing.
