I was able to get out on Pool 2 this last Saturday morning. I arrived at the 494 launch about 6:30 AM and was anchored on the first wing dam shortly after. The bite wasn’t fast and furious but I was able to find one or two on a majority of the dams that I fished. An 1/8th oz jig tipped with half a crawler was the presentation of choice and getting it to sweep right off the tip of the dam seemed to be the key for my boat.

I have found that the bite has died off about 11:00 AM, so get out there early if you have the chance! Or maybe I just can’t find them midday…..

    Good luck and tight lines!

    Sam

It has been a fun couple weeks out there! May need to sneak out after work this week and see what the evenings bring.

Mike, have you been out there past dark at all lately?

Nope. Been lucky to get out for a short trip about every other week. Good to see someone is keeping those fish company.

Did good yesterday at about 1p.m when I got out.Threw out a crayfish #4 hornet and started trolling.Caught a dandy and the lure barely started moving.Stuck with trolling most of the rest of the day alternateing a #4 and #5 depending on where I was at.Did good on walleyes and a few saugers 15-20″.Got alot of smallies, cats, couple white bass, and of course a few sheepies. Some of those catfish really hammer the bait, bout rip tje rod outa your hand.Stayed till around 10 and got cats, sheepies and one walleye after dark.First fish and biggest of the day pictured.

Nice fish guys! I was out about four days ago and though I would try the late afternoon bite (4pm-8pm). Personally, I would think twice about going that late again. I have always done well in the morning with the bite being good at times between 10-2pm. But the late afternoon bite? Nah…it was rather slow. Cant wait to get out there Thurs or Friday. Although, I can hear the Croix calling and I am in the need of a nice night’s meal.

Thanks.Yeah It was fun,I didnt expect it since Saturday afternoon/evening was pretty poor fishing for me out there, trolled cranks for a mile or two and never had a strike.A different area a couple days, and a little wind, rain and sun made all the difference I guess. We will see what this weekend brings.

Forgot to say the boat landing at Lilydale is open during the road construction. And hasanyone else noticed the large amount of minnows on the surface in certain areas? They are good sized and kind of look like shiners but I cant tell for sure.Saw way more of them on Saturday then Monday but they were still around in spots.

I was out with my son (2 year old) and picked up half a dozen walleyes and a small pike in a couple hours. 2 wanted cranks while the others hit jigs with bait. Biggest of the evening was 25 inches that wanted a leech. Great weather to be out fishing. Beats most Augusts with the usual high temps and humidity.

Here is a couple from Wednesdays trip. Pretty much stuck to the wingdams finding a fish or two in most spots. They where hitting a little bit of everything. Cranks, crawlers and willow cats. Bob ended up getting a nice 28″er that day. Haven’t seen to many of those this summer.

Nice fish.I’ve found they have been liking a bit of everything lately. One day they like crawlers and leeches, with a few on cranks.Had one real good day last Friday and been fairly slow ever since with one here and there. My bro did pick up a crappie and a nice eye Friday trolling smash shads after dark in 6-10 ft.gave up about 10p.m tho.I figure they are after the minnows in the shallows that are everywhere.
