How do I change my user name?

Just renewed an old account and would like to change my User Name. How do I do that?

Hmmm… there must have been a change that I wasn’t aware of.

Not to long ago we could change our display names ourselves.

Send me a pm with what you would like it to be and will getterdone!

On your profile page under the profile tab there should be an “Edit” link. You can change your full name there. I think that *should* then be displayed by default rather than your username. (not 100% sure about that though)

My mistake – that functionality would have just made to much sense. (will put that on the list of things to fix) lol

Setting your full name under your profile does not change what’s displayed in the forums.

Scratch that – the reason it isn’t reflected in the forums is because of object caching. The real issue is that the cache isn’t invalidated with the full name change. It should eventually show up as newer objects push out the older ones.

LOL! Dave, I spent 10 minutes trying to change my display name prior to my first post above. Glad I’m not the only one that was confused!!

So as Dave said, go to your PROFILE.
Click on EDIT.
Change the name in the FULL NAME (required) field.
Save Changes.

I’ve change my “Full Name” and saved it. So now I’ll just wait for it to show up as my username.

Scott you’ll need to send a “friend request” and that person needs to accept it. Once that happens it’s just like sending an email.

Later tonight I’ll purge cache when the traffic is slower.

FYI this has been fixed. No need to send a friend request before sending a pm.

You can change it by going to your profile > profile tab > edit

That’s the “full name” though. We’re working on replacing this software so things will be much simpler down the road.

I’ll clear cache again tonight to make changes show up.
