I have a 17 ft Alumacraft Competitor with a 60 horse tiller (Johnson). Believe it or not the Johnson actully runs pretty good. I can get 31 out of it fully loaded with 3 large guys (250+) in it, 3 deep cells, bow mount and a full tank of fuel. Get rid of 2 guys, the bow mount, 2 batts, and some fuel and she’ll run about 42 on the GPS. I like the boat and the control with the tiller is great.

My FIL has a 1790 Warrior with a 125 Optimax tiller. I drove this boat quite a bit this past week fishing Salmon with him on Lake MI. As others have said here the Warriors are a great boat and I like them as well. His is set up with power steering so you can steer electronically with a rocker switch if you like.

I prefer tillers, but I think if I ever bought a boat with over a 90hp motor I would probably go to a wheel.
