This year my ice fishing season started on November 21st on a Twin Cities Metro Lake. Anytime I’m ice fishing before Turkey Day – I’m a happy man! Surprisingly there was already 5-6″ of ice on this spot by the time I got to it. This area is known to hold many different species during the early season but we were able to locate and key in on the Crappies and Sunfish. Most of the fish caught were typical “metro” size but we did catch Sunfish up to 9″ and Crappies up to 11.5″.

Nice video guys!!
That got me itching harder for Chicago area ice.
Fingers crossed I’ll walk on water shortly after Thanksgiving.

Nice video. Really liked the color of that first fish.
I did too, I love the variation in color of Bluegills.

Did you have a chance to get out over Turkey Day break?

Nope…we had a warm up. The shore ice melted and the bigger “ice cube” in the middle hung around.
I’m not sure when I’ll get on hard-water but I’m itching to do so!
