Flew over Mille Lacs this morning at 8:52am…there are some major cracks as expected with numerous open areas of water still present. Many of the areas larger lakes also have areas of open water (Farm Island, Ripple, Spirit, Cedar..)

Thanks for the update Procor, those pics are awesome! We should also be able to get a look at the satellite photos later today with the clear skies. And I’m hoping to find some fishable ice on the pond by the day after Thanksgiving.

Taken from Tim Chapman’s Mille Lacs Resort report on Facebook, his resort is out of Isle, MN

Tim ventured out on the ice this morning on ATV. 2 miles out he found a pretty consistent 7″ of ice and nothing less than 6 1/2″ but most was 7″. There’s not much for snow so you will definitely need cleats. Looks to be rough ice the farther out you go.

These thicknesses are only where Tim checked, you need to check for yourself as it can vary from spot to spot. Be Smart Be Safe!

We will allow ATV traffic this weekend. The road is staked and the stakes run on the left and the road will run 100 feet to the right. For the safety of everyone, we would REALLY APPRECIATE IT if the spear fishermen don’t cut holes on the road as well as auger any holes.

Cool pics of the lake. Pretty good freeze up for so early in the season.

There have been a few portables on Chapmans webcam this week. (Fishing Isle Bay.)
